Goals: 1) Study the use of multiple sensors to identify surface materials for chemical hazards assessment; 2) Develop tools required to prepare multi-source imagery for use in chemical hazards assesment: a) Characterization of individual image sources. b) Data preparation. c) Analysis. 3) Example application at government test site. Automated Fusion of Image Data Systems (AFIDS) was developed at JPL to co-register multi-source imagery It handles a variety of sensors, projections, resampling methods and assumes ''internal'' geometry (=interband) registration of individual sensors is accurate. ALI: wide focal plane array is affected by terrain-induced parallax. Hyperion: different imaging mechanisms between VNIR and SWIR.
